Maelstrom has 2 meanings - a powerful whirlpool or vortex, and a confused or chaotic situation. I created the original of this Mandala painting as a custom painting for a patron in Australia. He asked me to use greens, yellows,and oranges, along with some black and white. The colors made me think of citrus fruits - lemons, limes and oranges - and all the details made it feel a bit like a chaotic vortex! I love how it turned out, and it's one of my personal favorite paintings I've done, so I decided to make prints of it available.
